A Residency at Jihan

When Mariam and Youssef reached out to bring STORM into Jihan's opening chapter in Paris, it felt like a natural encounter between two projects that speak the same language, even if they've never met before.

Jihan is a concept store rooted in African and West Asian design, installed for the month of June in Le Marais. It's a space where fashion, objects, and ideas coexist, where things slow down and nuance is still welcome. 
When they described what they were building, and the idea of Worldly Matters at its heart, we recognized something familiar: the same impulse that drives STORM. A belief that books, like garments or objects, carry histories, communities, and ways of seeing the world.

Our selection is built around these questions and their program. Voices from the SWANA world meet practices that think about ecologies of bodies and belonging. The books we brought are not decorative. They're restless — meant to be picked up, passed on, argued with.

This is a residency, not a pop-up. For the duration of June, STORM is part of what Jihan is making, a world, as the name suggests, where different people, stories, and objects can exist together.
