    "Selected from an ongoing series of drawings, these four prints consider the history of protest through pictographic code. Over the past year, the graffiti-ed walls of New York, have been filled more and more with references to Gaza, to Palestine. to Zionism. Topics so matter-of-fact in my childhood, yet disputed or, until recently, rarely acknowledged by many here. Referencing traditional Sadu textiles, through which weavers developed their own kind of language built from their environments. I build fragments of the culture of my childhood, embedded with the fabric I see now. Words and phrases from graffiti on the walls, now…

    The majority of the proceeds will be donated to Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, with a small portion allocated to cover essential production costs.   

    Aliya Al-Adwani is an interdisciplinary artist and designer, whose practice revolves around notions of place and hybridity. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from Pratt Institute and her MFA from Parsons School of Design.
