Oct 19 • Arab Artists Series : Fadwa Tuqan – Nadia Tahoun
Our Arab Artist Series introduces the work of renowned artists from the region with presentations and hands-on creative workshops led by a contemporary artist.
Take part in a family-friendly workshop led by Brooklyn-based artist and curator Nadia Tahoun, where we explore the powerful poetry of Fadwa Tuqan. Known for her vivid imagery and reflections on identity, resilience, and the Palestinian experience, Tuqan’s work continues to inspire readers across generations.
This workshop is designed for participants of all ages, welcoming families and children. After a brief introduction to Tuqan’s poetry, participants will engage in a fun, hands-on activity, creating their own poems using cut-out words and images inspired by her work. No prior experience with poetry or art is needed—just bring your creativity and curiosity!
Nadia Tahoun is the co-founder of Flower Shop Collective (FSC), an art studio and educational hub focused on nurturing emerging artists and fostering dialogue on equitable futures. Nadia curates and leads FSC with academic frameworks rooted in political history and praxis. As an educator, she has led workshops for Amnesty International and Lucky Risograph. Nadia has also spoken at events such as the NYC Mayor’s Office of Labor Relations and the Global Diversity Foundation's Art as Environmental Justice panel, continuing her commitment to championing artists of the global majority.
