    Oct 26 • Hummus w zeitouni POP-UP – Zeina Zeitoun & Johnny Hummus

Debut Pop-up of the collaboration between Zeina Zeitoun and John Hummus highlighting Lebanese and Palestinian cuisines that features food as a conversation with their recent pasts, upbringing, ancestry, and most importantly - the dire present. Every menu item holds significance to one another, whether it be something that has always simply been on the dinner table, or something that takes hours of labor and years of experience to get just right.

John Hummus, of Palestinian descent, is known for his work in the world of Hummus. He has never been afraid to tackle the big issues revolving around “Middle Eastern” food and what that has come to mean today. The world wants to tear him down, but yet he fights; he fights through food, rejecting the terms colonialism has laid before him.

Zeina Zeitoun, born in America and raised in between the US and Lebanon, is a New York based photo editor, photographer, artist, and a cook by blood. Coming from a family of restaurateurs, chefs, and Lebanese aunties, she grew up hyper-focused on observing and learning from those before her in and outside of the kitchen. She believes that food not only physically nourishes and heals you, but also makes you feel less alone in this world of individualism that we live in today. Sharing food, cooking and providing for people, and creating experiences out of recipes is what gives her joy.
