Batiniyah Band is the trio of Alia Haju on vocals and percussion, Micheal Hart on guitar, and Matt Sellier on synthesizers and electronics. Initially working from collective improvisations, the group builds a oneiric weave of patiently unraveling melodies and whispering undercurrents of static, feedback, and found sounds, like lullabies played from long-degraded tapes.

This year she composed and music directed House of Telescopes (Pipeline Theater), danced in Gathering by Yaa Samar Dance Theater (The Shed), debuted her upcoming album at Joe's Pub, and went back to school for environmental science. You can find her single "Rapids" on all streaming platforms and follow her album release at @ayaazizart.
