Acacia - Issue 02
A magazine of politics and culture for the muslim left.
Acacia #2 explores how movements for liberation — from Palestine to Puerto Rico — resist the global tyranny of American empire.
"We talk to Palestinian American voters who are being tasked with the impossible: participate in a political system that will perpetuate the annihilation of your people, or be held responsible for the death of a dysfunctional democracy. We explore the efforts of organizers, whether by working within the Democratic Party to influence policy change around the war on Gaza or rejecting electoralism altogether."
The issue was edited by @hiraahmed and creative directed by @arshraziuddin.
The cover features art from @Taysir_Batniji’s project ‘The Fathers,’ a series of portraits of “masters of the house” captured in Gaza between 2005 and 2006. Many of the fathers and founders pictured in this collection are long departed, resulting in a special type of still life image of earlier times — much like ruins after a disaster.
