June 1 • Poetry & jewelry a talk – Fanny Boucher x Yasmine Seale
On Saturday, Fanny Boucher, founder and creative director of Bangla Begum, will talk with Yasmine Seale, poet, artist, translator, fellow of the Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers at the New York Public Library, who currently teaches writing at Columbia University.
Fanny and Yasmine will talk about the similarities between jewelry and poetry.
Is writing a poem similar to making a piece of jewelry? Can you wear a poem like you wear a piece of jewelry?
Finally, they will discuss the function of jewelry and poetry in a context of conflict and oppression.
