MAY 18 • A WHIRLWIND FAREWELL
Celebrations are essentiel.
This one is mainly for the people <3
Storm at Norman avenue is a bookstore and a piece of life.
And like a book, very open, filled with the energy of NY, every page, every past and upcoming chapters were/will be created with you.
This Sunday, we celebrate STORM.
Join us to gather, hug each other, buy books (!!!) and more than books, cheer to the future, talk about the mini storms to come, the nomadic blast of wind and lightenings..
This farewell is also a nod to our Subhiyeh, our communal and weekly community gatherings. Subhiyeh are what held us standing and together when the genocide intensified on October 2023.
During these, our hands were stubbornly repeating gestures for 3 hours, while we broke the frozen sadness and anger of our hearts on one another.
We shelled hummos, trimmed zaatar leaves, shelled fava beans, shaped shish barak balls, made baklava, atayef, rolled yalanji and waraq 3anab, prepared koussa.
Our hands were holding our mind together. From food, a few of us continued on repetitive movements of building shelves, opening boxes of books, organising programing. All these actions led to STORM as it is now.
We couldn’t fare-well the space without thanking every one who passed by our doors before we opened.
This fare-well allow us also to prepare our nomadic (child of the diaspora) future, mini storms bursting in different places, programming, fairs, pop-up,
keep your umbrella ready :)
Grilled veggies and wine might come to the party,
See you Sunday!
