Nov 9 • Plant Series: The Olive Tree with Zane Elias
Celebrate the olive harvest season with a family workshop featuring field journaling of a real olive tree, olive oil tasting, folktales and more!
As fall is rounding the corner and winter is approaching, it’s the perfect time to acknowledge the magnificent olive tree (Olea europaea). Join Zane Elias on Nov 9 for a family workshop exploring the cultural, historical, and ecological importance of the olive tree. Together, we’ll design and use field journals (provided), enjoy an olive tasting, listen to folktales, and eat olive oil cake—all to honor the bountiful olive.
Ideal for ages 4 and up but all ages are welcome!
Zane Elias is a Palestinian-American environmental educator and gardener. He completed a fellowship at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens Children's Garden and currently works alongside the waterfront alliance as their environmental educator.
